Cleveland Restaurants I like -- part I (?) -- the Old Angle

Ah, the Old Angle Tavern, or, as we call it in this house, the corner. At W. 25th and Bridge in Ohio City. We're there all the time, so maybe I'm biased... (Warning: the website requires a Flash 6 player, so I haven't looked at it!)

A nice relaxed local tavern, with food that's quite a bit better and more ambitious than normal bar food. Many sandwiches, a few main dishes, excellent burgers. A weekly special small plate, big plate, pizza, and soup that are generally pretty good. TVs with sports all the time, usually including soccer. I would call it a pretty good beer selection, both on draft and in bottles, but I'm not much of a beer person. No terrace/patio/sidewalk seating, but in the nice weather, they open up the front windows which are right on the sidewalk, and that's almost the same thing if not better. Smokers stand outside on the sidewalk and talk to the people sitting inside at the tables....

Has a nice view of Progressive Field on the other side of the Cuyahoga, if you happen to enjoy looking at professional sports facilities while you're eating/drinking, and who doesn't?

Update 3 August 2009:
Parking shouldn't be a big problem for the Old Angle. There's a fairly big lot behind the building (get to it from Bridge Ave.) that people use all the time, although it's not owned by the Old Angle and may someday have a building built on it or a fence built around it or something. I think you can park in the parking lot for Dave's Supermarket (across Bridge Ave.) after they close at 9pm without any hassle. I don't think street parking is really going to be much of a problem, really, although I don't really know, because we can walk there...

Q: What's the difference between the city and the suburbs?
A: Plenty of free parking!
